History of VDL and Tasmania -- 0031 Freedom By Servitude and Pardons
This video was prompted by a query I saw a while ago from a subscriber in an online History group. The query was: "If someone is listed as 'Free' in old records, does this mean they were always free, or is there a chance that they might once have been a convict?" I made this video, firstly to explain the various types of "freedom" that convicts could experience after their arrival in Van Diemen's Land; and secondly to address the actual query from the user which I mentioned above. The conclusion is: well, nothing in life is fair. For other videos of mine on the history of Van Diemen's Land and Tasmania, please be sure to subscribe to my channel: / @catagunyah
