@Viviane_Oliveira grew up without a father and, like millions of Brazilians, was raised by a single mother who worked tirelessly to provide the best possible conditions for her and her two sisters. Because she worked outside the home, her mother was also absent for much of her childhood and adolescence, and her older sister was the one who truly cared for her. Viviane realized her mother's unintentional absence at age 11, when she had to attend her 4th grade graduation alone. "That day, I realized what it's like to be without a father, when I saw everyone else picking up their diplomas with their father, while I went alone." From that moment on, she matured enough to understand that her mother wasn't to blame for her absence, since she could have participated more actively in her daughter's life if her father shared the responsibilities of raising her. But not everyone can overcome abandonment the same way she did, which is why Vivi now connects with people facing the same situation through her channel @Viviane_Oliveira. The channel is a space for children of absent fathers and single mothers to share experiences, trying to ease their children's trauma. Vivi fights to change this normalized context of paternal abandonment. "For people like me, who grew up in the absence of a father or mother and managed to survive, people forget to demand the father's presence."
