Happy Pride Month 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ This song is a personal one for me, written from my heart and my true feelings. It states both points of view from the person I was and the person I am now. I got emotional writing this as it’s 4 years this month since I came out as a transgender man and the last 4 years have been a rollercoaster for me both mentally and emotionally but like the title states… I’m unapologetically me and I don’t have any regrets 🫶 Lyrics 👇 [Verse 1] I was born a girl, and she wasn’t right for this world. She always felt out of place everywhere she went. The people that she met, she just didn’t quite fit in. She felt sad and alone With no one to turn to She was dying on the outside Just to keep me alive on the inside [Pre chorus] She was my protector My only disguise She tried to hard to be who she was But in the end she was just a lost cause And she had to set me free [Chorus] I won’t apologise for who I am I won’t apologise for what I’ve done You think I’ve done wrong when you couldn’t be far from the truth I put my happiness first and started living life the way it was supposed to be I’m unapologetically me And I don’t regret it [Verse 2] I watched her cry I watched her sit and wonder why Why she couldn’t be the person she knew she was Why she was so afraid to take that first step She was afraid of the judgement She was afraid to be seen She was afraid to be mocked by her friends and even her family [Pre chorus] But I helped her grow I gave her the strength she needed And when it was time to let me be free I thanked her for everything she did for me For what hell she put herself through Because she didn’t deserve that [Chorus] I won’t apologise for who I am I won’t apologise for what I’ve done You think I’ve done wrong when you couldn’t be far from the truth I put my happiness first and started living life the way it was supposed to be I’m unapologetically me And I don’t regret it [Verse 3] The day came when she told me she wanted to die, she said she was scared of leaving me alone. I took her hand, I looked into her eyes and I told her “don’t be scared, it’s okay. I am free and I am ready. Thank you for everything that you done for me” She looked at me and she smiled and she slowly faded away. It broke my heart but I knew it was for the best and she could rest [Pre Chorus] I stood as one, a man in the making, the man I’ve always wanted to be. Now he’s here and he sees how cruel the world is. Trans lives matter, no matter what you say. We are people with feelings So stop treating us differently just because we had to work hard to become who we are.
