The reason I decided to do this experiment in the first place was because I came up with a project that requires me to walk about 30km a day, and I wanted to know beforehand how difficult that would be! Then I learned that the Yamanote Line is 34.5km long, and thought, "That's the perfect distance!" This led to the decision to undertake the project of walking around the Yamanote Line. In the end, I walked a distance exceeding that of a full marathon. Looking at the route map, I could understand that I was getting closer to the finish line, but because I wasn't actually reaching a distant location along the way, I had absolutely no sense of accomplishment or achievement. Of course, I felt a sense of accomplishment when I reached the finish line, but how many times along the way did I ask myself, "What am I doing? Why did I start this project?" Aside from my back hurting terribly towards the end, I managed to complete the journey safely, so all's well that ends well! I suppose.
