The Sittingbourne & Kemsley Light Railway End of Season Gala | 25th September 2022

The Sittingbourne & Kemsley Light Railway is a 2'6" gauge line which runs for about 1½ miles from the centre of Sittingbourne to the Bowaters Paper Mill in Kemsley, Kent. The railway was constructed by the mill to aid with transport of inward goods such as wood, and the paper itself back into the town for onward distribution. When the Bowaters Paper Company declared the line was surplus to requirements, a preservation society bought the section of line that survives today to keep running the locos and wagons to preserve the line's heritage. A number of the old wagons have been turned into passenger carriages, along with a few extra which were built for a nearby military railway. This event saw three of the locos in operation, two of the Kerr Stuart 0-4-2s "Melior" and "Premier" and the Hudson-Hunslet "Victor". I was joined by ‪@dustybinproductions4779‬ for this event.
