It didn't require tapping hamsters or swiping potential one-night stands. All Randonautica did was generate a random point on the map and invite the user to explore it. But dark legends quickly began to swirl around the app. Users reported encountering men in creepy masks, finding abandoned houses, bloody clothes, strange notes, creepy dolls, and symbols reminiscent of Satanic rituals. Some were convinced the app was leading people to cursed places, while others, more mundane and less mystical, suspected that someone was somehow leading them to the trail of their crimes. Allegedly, some crazy maniac or even an entire cult had created the app and were leading users to the sites of their bloody glory. Social media was literally awash with such stories. However, it later emerged that most of them, as is often the case, were simply staged. But not all. On June 19, 2020, teenagers from Seattle, Washington, installed Randonautica and decided to see where the popular app would take them. The app pointed to a spot near the pier at Alkay Beach, and the group immediately headed there. Upon arrival, they saw nothing unusual. Just Puget Sound, a long pier, and a scattering of coastal rocks. But at one point, they spotted something strange among the rocks and decided to film it.
