Nothing I say is necessarily proven. Feel free to screen for what you believe applies to you, but actively look for tips and approaches to improving your skills. A lot happens in silos, but there are some things we can control. Some of the suggestions I propose can depend heavily on your agency to advocate for you. Many newer interpreters, however, are working independently, which greatly increases the gap to access and often leaves them more stuck with how to find ways to continually grow. It’s easy to hit ceilings fast. We all go through it. Growth is not spontaneous and often forces us to create our own opportunities. Continue to advocate for yourself and your needs ESPECIALLY within these agencies. I am highly aware of my weaknesses and frequently lawyer for what I need to be successful.
