All about Monster: The Story of Ed Gein The series has cast Tom Hollander to play none other than Alfred Hitchcock, the legendary filmmaker famous for films such as Vertigo, The Birds, and, most notably, Psycho. In addition to Hollander, Laurie Metcalf has been cast to play Augusta, Ed Gein's mother, a central figure in the killer's life and the source of much of his psychosis. Olivia Williams will take on the role of Alma Reville, Hitchcock's wife and collaborator. The trio joins Charlie Hunnam, who will star in the season as Ed Gein. According to rumors, the plot promises to explore how Gein's crimes influenced not only the film Psycho, but also the character Norman Bates, whose creation was directly inspired by the killer. This will be Hollander's second collaboration with Monster co-creator Ryan Murphy. The actor recently starred in the second season of FEUD: Capote Vs. The Swans, where he played Truman Capote. Hollander is known for his roles in series such as The White Lotus and The Night Manager, as well as films such as Bohemian Rhapsody and Pirates of the Caribbean.
