Story Behind: This silver sachet belongs to Yang Guifei, who is a notorious beauty and concubine of the great Tang emperor Xuanzong. During the mid-point (from 755 to 763) of the Tang dynasty, a Chinese general of Iranian and Turkish descent named An Lushan, initiated a rebellion against the Tang emperor (Tang Xuanzong), known as the An Lushan Rebellion. The rebellion causing Tang Xuanzong fled Chang’an and had to put his concubine Yang Guifei to death, Yang is then buried at Ma Weipo. After a few years when the rebellion finally ended, Tang missed his concubine Yang Guifei, he then secrectly ordered Yang to be reburied. When dug up the old grave of Yang, it was found that the purple mattress used for the burial shroud and the corpse had been decayed, only the sachet remained and was still in a good condition. The sachet is now kept in the "Hejia Village Cellars Exhibition" of Shaanxi History Museum.
