Branan Silvius singing raga kambhoji

Dhrupad style vocal alap in raga kambhoji, with only tanpura accompaniment. This performance, filmed in Fremantle, Western Australia, formed part of the International Day of Dhrupad music festival 2019. Raga kambhoji is now a rare raga, sung in the Dagar family tradition. Branan Silvius learnt classical dhrupad singing from the Gundecha Brothers, at the Dhrupad Sansthan in Bhopal, and was one of their earliest students, starting with them in 2002. He has since accompanied the Gundecha Bandhu, and performed classical dhrupad around the world. He currently lives in Perth, WA.
