** Easter Egg at the end, don't miss it ** Hi folks, thanks for all the kind words for the previous video unearthed yesterday taken when Mina played the guitar for the first time when she was 5. You all know, we ain’t got much to do at home because of COVID (finally things are getting back to normal again), we were stuck at home and Mina has been playing quite a few songs. To be honest, she tries hard of course but those were fun songs yet not exactly too explicated to play I must say. If you are a musician, you wouldn’t need the music scores these songs and if you listen to them a few times, one should be able to jam along. But, we have come across a song that Mina told me this: “Dad, this is not a normal breed.” You might not know this, our lead guitarist here was not exactly formally trained at Juilliard, and despite strumming on our acoustic guitar in the rare footage posted yesterday, she didn’t spend any time on any acoustic guitar doing classical guitar stuff at all, and only picked up one for a gig around Chinese New Year this year. Now, as promised, here comes “El Bimbo”, of course a Nokie Edwards version, his live version in fact. It was definitely a challenge for her. We don’t know what kind of music it is. We have seen people doing classical music like this but it’s something we have never done. We know it’s country chicken picking style now, ‘cos we were doing “Riders in the sky” last year in April:    • ベンチャーズ Ghost Riders ゴースト ライダーズ (Cover)- 10...   and didn’t find out what it was till after we had played it. I was saying back then I had no idea where she had learned how to play like that and then, someone told us it’s called country chicken picking. Boy, I love the name! So folks, hope you like her hard work and dedication in trying to figure out how to do this song like Nokie Edwards. Oh, other than the song being “not a normal breed” (difficult), I used to hear this theme all the time on TV when the most popular actresses were buying clothes from Milan or Paris in a Hong Kong high street boutique, or scenes that involved elegant and trendy ladies having high tea at the Ritz or Peninsula Hotel in the 70s and early 80.. It was such a popular song back than but Mina’s old dad during that time (a little kid) didn’t speak English and had no idea what the name was….Now I find out it’s called “El Bimbo”, I thought for a second it would be a song with Latin American / Spanish heritage.
