Meška miške (A Bear in the Forest) || English subtitles

In spring, after spending more than a decade abroad, we decided to return to live in Lithuania. At the same time, the media was full of reports about encounters with bears. Although there are only a few bears in the country, the media noise created the impression that hundreds of them were tumbling head over heels into cities and forests. Experts explained that the bear is a shy animal, and that real danger arises only when one is encountered accidentally, especially if it has cubs. For this reason, people walking through the forest are advised to make various sounds to announce their presence. Having heard a human, a bear will usually move away. As sound artists, we spend long periods in the forest while recording environmental sounds, remaining very quiet. Even though we understood that there are only a few bears in the whole country, still, after a longer time and irrational thought kept circling through our minds - meška miške (a bear in the forest). And yet we began to consider the possibility of recording a bear in the forest.
