KOMPAS.TV - Sad news has struck a Hajj pilgrim from Southeast Sulawesi in the Holy Land. A doctor serving in flight group UPG 38 has died in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. Helping pilgrims in the Holy Land was the final act of a doctor named Fitri Rezkiani. Doctor Fitri passed away on Sunday evening, June 7, 2026, at approximately 11:00 PM Saudi Arabian time, at King Abdul Aziz Hospital in Mecca. Prior to her death, she had been undergoing intensive care after experiencing health problems while serving pilgrims. The exact cause of her death is still awaiting official documentation from local authorities. Doctor Fitri was one of six Hajj officials in flight group UPG 38, which comprised 393 pilgrims from Baubau City, Bombana Regency, South Buton, Muna, West Muna, and Kolaka. According to schedule, the deceased was supposed to return to Indonesia with the group of Hajj pilgrims on June 29, 2026, via the Makassar embarkation point. However, fate had other plans.
