Ética em pesquisa clínica - A Vida Imortal de Henrietta Lacks | CINEgenoma
The story of Henrietta Lacks illustrates the impacts of the lack of a consent policy for the use of cells for research and eventual commercialization. She died in 1951, but her cells are still alive today and have given rise to the biomedical industry, without any right to financial compensation for her family. To discuss this case and the current status of this issue, we invited Cristina Caldas (Scientific Director of the Serrapilheira Institute), João Cortese (Professor of Philosophy of Science - IB/USP) and Merari Ferrari (Professor of Cell Biology - IB/USP).
