Where was God when I was betrayed? | Why did God let me down? | Dr. Doug Weiss
After the betrayal, after the infidelity, after the pain in your damaged relationship, it’s hard not to think, “Where was God when I was betrayed?” The truth is, God was there the whole time. He cried, got angry, and had His heart hurt like you did when your spouse choose to be unfaithful. However, God does not just allow bad things like this to happen. God was trying to stop your husband or wife during that time, warning and convicting them because He knew this would break your heart. But they chose to ignore Him and He couldn’t stop them from committing the act. You are in no way the cause of their choices. It was not God either. It was your spouse that betrayed you and let you down. God never imposes His will and gives us free will at the same time. We make our own choices. God is very clear on the matter of adultery and lust. It was probably God who helped your spouse come clean or get caught. God wants you to heal, to be your comforter and friend during this difficult time. He’s willing to hear your hurts, anger, fears, etc. Be still before Him, read His Word consistently, and lean on strong, good, and mature people of the same gender.
