Seeing the World through the Prisms of a Lazy-eyed Realist | Muborak Samieva | TEDxWoosongUniversity
Being born with an eye misalignment condition, Muborak has always struggled to find her true identity. She shares her story of acceptance and self-compassion along with the struggles of having a lazy eye. Growing up with lazy-eye was a constant battle of ignoring the ailment and listening to uncalled comments about her condition, which made her self-conscious about her appearance. She describes what was the life of living in constant expectation of the D-day, when she can get cosmetic surgery, and becomes “normal”, looking less like out of this world. However, the decision of eye surgery was not one of the easiest to make, or was it? She invites us to her current reality where we can experience the world of being a realist with a lazy eye. Muborak is a junior student at SolBridge International School of Business and currently taking up a bachelor's degree in Finance. She is recognized as a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) scholastic honor society to acknowledge her academic achievements. Muborak aspires to pursue a career as a financial data analyst to help people build sustainable wealth and gain financial security. She has done several internships in data analytics and project management working for companies such as QYMATIX and CFS. Her passions include learning new languages, reading self-development books, and solo traveling. Currently, she is on an empowering journey of self-acceptance and learning to feel comfortable in her own skin. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
