"The Yoga of the Five Senses" - A Talk by Swami Satchidananda (Integral Yoga)
Yoga of the Senses: In this excerpt from the DVD, The Yoga of Breath and Sense Control, Yoga Master Swami Satchidananda is asked the question: "I have difficulty controlling my senses. What can I do?" He explains how to utilize the yogic practice of pratyahara (sense control) to gain self-mastery. He explains that, "The senses are very delicate, almost like babies. Little by little, we train them. By doing that you are indirectly training the mind and the mind gets strong. When the mind becomes calm, nothing is impossible." Pratyahara is one of the 8 major limbs of Raja Yoga as delineated by Sri Patanjali, author of the Yoga Sutras. Raja Yoga is the foundation of the classical philosophy and practice of contemplate Yoga science. From the DVD: The Yoga of Breath and Sense Control.
