This project is a tie-up with the Mainichi Shimbun Tokyo edition's special calligraphy feature, "Calligraphy of the Heart: A Step Toward Improvement." The February theme is "Developing Calligraphy Lines." The instructor is Tetsu Omori, who has approximately 50 years of experience teaching at high schools. To hone the strength, intonation, dynamism, rhythm, and softness of calligraphy lines, participants will copy classic works such as Northern Wei dynasty regular script, wooden tablets, and Yan Zhenqing's "A Manuscript for a Niece." They will also demonstrate how to create works using the brushwork they have learned. February's "Calligraphy of the Heart" will be published in the Mainichi Shimbun Tokyo edition on Friday, the 28th, and can also be read on the Mainichi Shimbun news website. Tetsu Omori Born in 1952 in Tagawa City, Fukuoka Prefecture. Currently residing in Kisarazu City, Chiba Prefecture. He serves as the Secretary General of the Kimitsu Gakuen Educational Corporation and has taught at Kisarazu Comprehensive High School, which is run by the school, for approximately 50 years. He is a member of the Mainichi Calligraphy Association's Board of Directors and the Display Manager for the 75th Mainichi Calligraphy Exhibition.
