Feuer an Bord, der Absturz von Swissair 111 | Flugforensik, Episode 2

To this day, it remains the worst crash in Swiss civil aviation history – in September 1998, an MD-11 wide-body jet crashed into the North Atlantic off the coast of Nova Scotia. A dramatic fight for survival had unfolded in the cockpit: two outstanding pilots battled against the worst thing that can happen on board – a fire. The crash of Swissair Flight 111 from New York to Geneva was a shock for the airline, considered extremely safe and reliable, and for the public. 229 people lost their lives because of an almost unbelievable degree of negligence years earlier. Aviation forensics experts Benjamin Denes and Andreas Spaeth reconstruct Swissair Flight 111, have a former MD-11 pilot analyze the radio communications, and speak with an author who worked for Swissair's communications team in 1998 and actively participated in the disaster response.
