The Castle That Never Was | Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix Episode 20

Last time, Sora, Donald, and Goofy returned to Twilight Town to find the Organisation stronghold. They met Hayner, Pence, and Olette at the mansion, where Mickey appeared and found a computer that took them to Data Twilight Town. The Dark Corridor that Axel had opened up to stop Roxas was still there, and Axel was waiting inside. Xemnas sends the Nobodies after Sora and Axel, leading to Axel using all his energy to stop them. They make their way through the Dark Corridor and find themselves in the World That Never Was, a huge city filled with Heartless. Sora meets Roxas, who puts up a huge fight, before the group found themselves at a castle with no way in. Kairi and Naminé meet in the castle's dungeon, and the light they create shows Sora how to open the way. This episode, SDG and Mickey enter the castle. Mickey soon leaves the group in search of Ansem the Wise, but SDG must fight through the castle as waves of Nobodies stand in their way. The first roadblock is Xigbar. After Kairi is rescued by Riku, who looks like Ansem, Saix pivots to try and stop Sora, leaving Xigbar to try and stop him. A formiddable foe, Sora wins eventually. A floor above, Riku hands Kairi a keyblade and they join the fight against the Heartless too. When Sora reaches the same floor, he reunites with Kairi before Riku tries to leave. Kairi calls him by name, and Sora has an emotional reunion with his best friend. Together, they continue to make their way through the castle. Meanwhile, Ansem the Wise has set up a weapon to turn Kingdom Hearts into data. He and Mickey catch up, and Ansem uses the weapon to try and destroy the huge moon floating in the sky. The group finds a space in the castle with broken doorways leading to the spaces for each Organisation member, where Luxord and Saix are hiding. Luxord captures Sora's friends and challenges Sora to a game, while Saix uses the power of Kingdom Hearts to berserk himself to cause massive damage. Both fall at the hands of Sora, leaving Xemnas as the final member of the Organisation to stand in Sora's way. As the group reaches the weapon, Xemnas appears to laugh at Ansem, who laughs back and tells Xemnas he was wrong, but so was Xemnas. The weapon malfunctions and explodes, showering the world in missing hearts, destroying Ansem the Wise, and dispelling the darkness around Riku, who now looks like himself again. It's time to finish their climb. Heartless have been created from the falling hearts and climb into the castle as the group reaches the final ascent. As they fight their way up, Maleficent and Pete step in. They want the castle for themselves and are willing to allow the group to defeat Xemnas to do it. But they will come back for their revenge. At the very top of the castle, Xemnas is waiting. He tells the group, Mickey included, that he needs Kingdom Hearts to become whole again before Sora cuts in and says that he's wrong and trying to manipulate them. Xemnas uses this as a chance to attack, taking Sora to a version of Memory's Skyscraper for a showdown. Sora defeats him, but Xemnas was biding time, using his power to create a door into Kingdom Hearts to hide away. Sora, Riku, and Mickey unlock the door and begin to prepare for the final fight.
