VN24 - 09-02-2023 (D/M/Y) - Luenen A2 / Germany - Around 07:52 in the morning, a traffic jam occurred on the A2 freeway near Luenen in the eastbound direction, just a few hundred meters before the Dortmund Nord-Ost interchange (A2/B236n). This was recognized by the driver of a semitrailer truck. To avoid full braking, he steered his truck to the right onto the hard shoulder to avoid a collision with the vehicle in front of him. Unfortunately, the man in front of him had exactly the same idea and also steered his truck onto the hard shoulder, leaving no room to avoid a collision altogether. A machine part weighing more than 7.4 tons, a so-called spur gear, came loose from its transport anchorage on the loading area and slid about two meters in the direction of the tractor unit. However, no major equipment damage was caused. All the drivers involved were uninjured.
