ZECA PAGODINHO | SÓ SE FOR AGORA COM JORGE PERLINGEIRO

Zeca Pagodinho is the guest on episode #03 of the podcast. In this interview, the singer and songwriter Zeca Pagodinho, at 63 years old and with 40 years of career, shows a desire to slow down his pace of life, reducing his working hours and having more time to enjoy life with his family and grandchildren. He talks about the pandemic period when he stayed at his home in the Xérem district, in the municipality of Duque de Caxias. He recalled his childhood and his experience as a numbers game bookie and office boy, before dedicating himself to songwriting. He remembered his partners and the Samba Circles at Cacique de Ramos. He talks about his habit of drinking beer and his quirks of switching glasses. "I drink because it's liquid, because if it were solid I'd eat it!" He said that he donates all his earnings from the Brahma Beer sponsorship to his Social Project at the Xérem School of Music, which has more than 250 children who can enroll in his school from the age of 3. He says: "It's my dream, and I won't give it up." Currently, his son Louiz Carlos is responsible for running the Project. He talks about the Bar do Zeca franchise and that soon there will be a branch in Portugal, a place he knows a little better and doesn't need an interpreter to communicate. He wants to slow down his pace of life with shows, to have more time to enjoy life and travel the world and really get to know the places he's been to. Because when on tour he didn't know any places, only the hotels in the countries. He wants to get to know places without haste and commitment, he wants to visit the countryside and the grape plantations in Portugal to see the winemaking process. He's going to be a grandfather again and wants to take the opportunity to spend more time with his family and enjoy his grandchildren. He mentioned that taking care of and changing diapers is a task for his wife, Mônica, because in her last attempt she put salt in the baby bottle. He recalled the episode of his first Samba de Primeira Trophy award ceremony, held at the Asa Branca Show House, where on stage he called the waiter over and gave him the trophy out of gratitude for lending him his shoes and, on some occasions, even money. This led to a fight with Jorge Perlingeiro that lasted for 3 years, and in a meeting years later in a dressing room, everything was cleared up and they became good friends again. He complains about not liking to take pictures, and tells the story of the homeless man who wanted to take a picture but didn't have a cell phone, and when he went to a friend's funeral he was approached to go to the chapel next door, because the deceased was his fan. Another guy spun me around to choose the best angle, so much so that from a distance it looked like I was dancing with him, “they’re losing all sense of proportion!”, says Zeca. He talks about his return to performing with his new show “Mais Feliz” (Happier), on April 1st at the VIVO RIO concert hall. He also says that his bohemian lifestyle of only returning home the next day is a thing of the past and that he’s retired his white shoes. Now I want shade, cold beer, to travel and let life take me where it will. SUPPORT: O-Live, the best-selling Chilean olive oil in the world.
