RIFUGIO REMONDINO - VALLE GESSO - CN (Alpi Marittime)

The Franco Remondino refuge is located in the Maritime Alps and is dedicated to an Alpine officer who died in a climbing accident at just 21 years old in 1931 while opening a route on Rocca Gialeo (Maira Valley). It is located at 2,460 meters above sea level and is a perfect destination for numerous mountaineering excursions, the most famous of which is undoubtedly the ascent of the "queen of the maritime Alps," Argentera, at 3,297 meters above sea level. To get there, you need to travel along the entire Gesso Valley to Terme di Valdieri. From there, continue on a paved road to Gias delle Mosche (CAUTION: there are several drainage channels, so you must drive with a vehicle that is high off the ground). The road then becomes a dirt road to Pian della Casa, at 3,297 meters above sea level. 1735 ASL (TOTAL APPROX. 7 KM) where you can park your car (FREE) – from there the “real” trail begins with numerous hairpin bends between larches and rocks, after about 2.15 hours of walking you reach the refuge where the effort is rewarded by an exceptional panorama!!!
