Also soak a small size tamarind (betel nut size)in water, extract the juice, strain it, and keep it aside. 2. Chop1 large size tomato & onion 3. Grind the soaked dal and chillies along with half of the chopped tomato and onion into a smooth paste using a little water 4. Heat oil in a pan add mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds 2 dried red chillies, curry leaves and a pinch of asafoetida. Then add the remaining tomato and onion. saute well and add the ground paste. 5. Pour enough water and add turmeric powder, tamarind water and salt. Let it boil well. 6. Finally add 1tsp roasted cumin powder, small piece of jaggery and garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
