Modern Commuter Trains & Vintage Diesels at Sha Tin MTR Station
Sha Tin is a major intermediate station on MTR's East Rail Line in Hong Kong, the former mainline rail line to mainland China (still connected, but through trains no longer run). Since the ceasing of freight operations on the East Rail Line in 2010 and the end of locomotive hauled services in the early 2020s, Sha Tin has been home to a several obsolete EMD G26 diesel locomotives. The former freight sidings are now used to store maintenance trains, making it an interesting spot for railfanning.
