Marco lives with his wife and children in the apartments at the base of the burned-out tower, in the so-called "villette," located to the side of the central structure. On Sunday, when the fire broke out, his wife and one of his daughters were outside in the internal courtyard. "They were playing and noticed something was wrong," Marco says. "They saw the flames spread quickly and alerted their other daughter, who was at home resting. Fortunately, they were quick to get out." Now, the biggest concern is whether they'll be able to return home, a possibility that, however, doesn't seem likely, at least in the short term. "The first night we spent with friends, and the solidarity was immense."
