Chimpanzee Habitat Encroachment in Kagadi: How Humans & Chimps Can Coexist
Chimpanzee habitat encroachment in Kagadi District is putting both wildlife and communities at risk. As forests shrink due to human activities such as farming, settlement, and charcoal burning, chimpanzees are increasingly forced into human settlements, leading to conflict and danger on both sides. In this video, the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) together with Friends for Chimpanzees share important guidance on how humans and chimpanzees can peacefully coexist. From protecting natural forests to avoiding direct confrontation, we explore practical steps communities can take to reduce conflict and safeguard lives.
