To speak of the "Pagador" Spectacular Band of Oruro is not only to refer to a part of the history of the Morenada Central, but also to the very history of the Carnival of Oruro. The Pagador Band is one of the first civilian bands in Bolivia, founded in 1964 under the direction of Maestro Gumercindo Licidio Chambi, who bequeathed to us a significant number of compositions that today form part of our musical heritage: Morenada Central 1956, Morenada VI 1967, El viejo del chicote 1973, Morenada VIII, Morenada IX 1975, among other works attributed to him. We had the honor of celebrating the 50th anniversary of this great musical institution in 2014, an occasion on which Maestro Alejandro Arias Maya composed the morenada "50 AÑOS" as a tribute and a token of affection from the Fraternidad Morenada Central Oruro to its sister institution, the Pagador Spectacular Band, which has accompanied us musically for several decades. Since 2008, they have continuously provided the musical accompaniment, initially for the second group of our fraternity and, later, for the fourth group of our century-old institution. Since then, the bonds of friendship and brotherhood between both institutions have strengthened, going beyond a simple contractual relationship. In that context, in 2017, the fifth year of my first term as president, we presented our Banda Pagador with the song “Pagador como el viento” (Pagador Like the Wind) as a token of mutual affection between the great Morenada and their Banda Pagador. Today, as we approach the end of our centennial year, we wish to further solidify this fraternal bond and, as a new expression of affection, we present the Morenada “Pagador por siempre” (Pagador Forever), composed by Maestro Alejandro Arias Maya, in the masterful interpretation of the group Sumajta in Bolivia, in a unique collaboration with the Banda Espectacular Pagador through its vocalist, Ms. Lady Rodriguez. We hope this new musical offering will be enjoyed by our members, fans, and supporters worldwide of the Banda Pagador de Oruro and the Fraternidad Morenada Central Oruro. Frat.
