A soldier stopped me on my very first day in Africa and said, “You are not allowed.” This was supposed to be the start of my motorcycle journey across Africa — instead, everything went wrong in Uganda. This Uganda travel vlog documents the real beginning of my motorcycle travel in Africa. After shipping my Yamaha Tenere 700 to Africa, I arrived in Kampala only to discover serious bike damage before the journey even started. Riding a motorcycle in Africa for the first time is not about speed or gear — it’s about survival, adaptability, and understanding local rules. Kampala traffic became my first lesson, followed by a pannier failure on the highway and a tense encounter with a soldier that forced me to confront the reality of traveling Africa solo. On day one, I also faced a malaria scare, reminding me how quickly adventure travel in Africa can turn into a fight for health. The journey later took me to Jinja, Uganda, home to the Source of the Nile, where Mahatma Gandhi’s ashes were scattered — a powerful moment connecting African history to the world.
