UCI World Gravel Series - Houffa Gravel 2024

Since I haven't trained for the last two months like I used to, I knew I was going to have a tough race. So I started very quietly on the difficult start climb. I gradually got through a bit but after the second supply I lost one full drinking canister and in the other there was only a little water left in it. So that was a long time before I could refuel again. I also strained my back on a steep climb. And at the end, the strong headwind nipped me dead further. In the end, 103rd out of 125 starters. This was my last UCI race of the season. The past two season I have been traveling all over Europe with an eye on the World Championships in Leuven and also once I went to Kenya. In the end I never came close to qualifying, but I experienced a lot, met cool people and saw a lot. And I am very grateful that I was able and allowed to do all this. I will have to watch the World Championships from the sidelines, but that will certainly not spoil the fun. I wish everyone lots of success!
