Bobby Fischer vs Mongolian Chess Champion Myagmarsuren | 1967

This is a Round 3 game from the Sousse Interzonal of 1967. It was played between Bobby Fischer and Mongolian Chess Champion Lhamsuren Myagmarsuren on October 15th. Myagmarsuren won the Mongolian Chess Championship in 1965, earned his International Master title in 1966, and would go on to win 3 more Mongolian Chess Championship titles in the 80's. Lhamsuren was looking to play the French Defense against Fischer's best by test, e4. Fischer however opted for a system he enjoyed, namely the King's Indian Attack. Once e5 is played, the board is cut in two, where a race between Fischer's attack on the kingside is countered by Myagmarsuren's queenside pressure. PGN 1. e4 e6 2. d3 d5 3. Nd2 Nf6 4. g3 c5 5.
