SCA Sword Technique with Duke Dietrich: Combos from Reverse Hip Offside
The reverse hip offside/backcut is a great option because it lacks the tells of a traditional offside, thus seems lightning quick, and even more importantly, positions you for some highly effective follow up strikes. This video recaps the reverse hip offside, and teaches two follow up options. This shot looks flat sometimes but it actually comes at a diagonal and should land on edge against an opponent’s grill or side of helm...though more often than not, this is going to hit their sword, and then we go into the followups. Enjoy!
