Ngemplak Village is located on the slopes of Mount Sumbing, administratively in the Windusari District, Magelang Regency, at an elevation of approximately 1,400 meters above sea level. Ngemplak Village consists of four hamlets: Petung, Tukung, Ngemplak, and Sreal. Ngemplak Village boasts stunning mountain views. In addition to its extraordinary natural beauty, Ngemplak Village also boasts a captivating annual tradition: a carnival. The Ngemplak Village Carnival is held annually in August to commemorate Indonesian Independence Day. In August 2025, the Ngemplak Village Carnival was held on Monday, August 18, 2025, at approximately 9 a.m. Western Indonesian Time, showcasing the creations of each household, the Ogoh2 (Indonesian traditional puppets). The carnival begins in Petung Hamlet, then proceeds to Tukung Hamlet, then passes through Ngemplak Hamlet, and ends in Sreal Hamlet. Here, every ogoh2 (carnival) created by residents will be displayed and judged by a panel of judges. This carnival in the land above the clouds certainly has a different feel and sensation compared to carnivals held in cities.
