No. 5 Group Bomber Command No. 93 Group Bomber Command County: Nottinghamshire Location: 8 miles NW of Newark, West of Ossington OS Ref: SK 745645 Opened: 1942 Closed: 1946 Pundit Code: ON Control Tower: ? Condition: Demolished Runways: 3 concrete (240) 2,000 by 50 yards, (268) 1, 400 by 50 yards & (318) 1,400 by 50 yards Hardstandings: An encircling perimeter track from which 30 frying-pan type heavy bomber hardstandings were placed Hangars: 4 - T2 hangars to the North of the airfield Bomb Stores: The bomb dump was situated to the Southwest in High Wood Ad., tech. & barr.: The Technical Site was to the East and North of the airfield. Dispersed accommodation sites to the East, around the village of Ossington; Ossington Hall was used for part of the accommodation requirement Population: RAF Officers - 215, OR - 1,917, WAAF Officers - 9, OR - 332.
