11/431: Strada Păcii din Bălți — de la fastul Primăriei interbelice, la noroiul râului Răuțel 🏃‍♂️🏛

In Episode 11/431 of the #BaltiStreetRun challenge, I explore the 1.5-kilometer Peace Street — a route that showcases every side of urban infrastructure in Bălți. 🏃‍♂️ The street can be divided into three very different sections: 🔹 Section 1 (Start – Pushkin Street): Cracked sidewalks and a road full of potholes. 🔹 Section 2 (Pushkin Street – 31 August Street): A much more comfortable stretch, with decent asphalt and sidewalks that make running enjoyable. 🔹 Section 3 (31 August Street – Răuțel River): Here the road almost disappears, turning into a mix of dust, gravel, mud, and fragments of old asphalt. 🏛️ The highlight of the route is the Hagi Markarov House, a stunning 19th-century red-brick building commissioned by Yakov Hagi Markarov. During the interwar period, it served as Bălți City Hall, while its interior was redesigned by renowned architect Etty-Rosa Spirer. Although it is listed as a national heritage monument, the building has sadly lost much of its former grandeur.
