Dentro l'Heysel #4 | Il ritorno

Inside Heysel is Emilio Targia's memoir podcast, produced by Mondadori Studios, dedicated to the author's intimate and personal account of the Heysel Stadium disaster in Brussels on May 29, 1985. The doomed match, the European Cup final between Juventus and Liverpool, marked a watershed moment in football that is too often forgotten. In this fourth episode, Emilio returns to the stadium the next day to realize what happened, almost as if without testimony he can't truly believe it. He makes his way through shoes and shoes and shoes, objects that aren't his but already hold a memory that will forever be his too. And then, on the train home, there are the survivors' words: it's there that the tape recorder comes on, once again, he rewinds the tape and lets out a tear as he returns home, convinced that without memory, we would be lights out. 00:00 Introduction to the podcast topics 00:23 May 29, 1985, final whistle, the match is over: long minutes filled with nothing. 02:49 Inside Heysel: how this podcast was born 03:48 Leaving the stadium, finding Emanuele, the gentleman from Naples who recounts what happened. 07:29 Interlude: the voice of the witnesses from the return train 08:11 39 dead and approximately 600 injured is the bulletin of that evening 11:20 Interlude: the voice of the witnesses from the return train 11:40 The next day 15:27 Interlude: the voice of a survivor 16:27 The objects on the ground, at the site of the massacre and the urgency of returning home. 9:32 PM The return train journey and the newspaper headlines 11:11 PM Rome, finally 10:16 PM 39 years later 1:38 PM Credits Mondadori Studios is a space for the creation and production of original audio content; it's also a place for voice: follow us on YouTube and Instagram to stay up-to-date on our podcasts and audiobooks from Mondadori Group publishers.
