Holocaust Survivor Rachel Garfunkel - Krakow ghetto
Rachel Garfunkel was born in 1930 in Krakow, Poland. When the war broke out in 1939 and the Germans occupied the city, Rachel and her family fled toward the East, close to the Ukrainian border. They returned to Krakow in 1941 and moved into the ghetto. In this excerpt, Rachel describes everyday life and the conditions in the Krakow ghetto. Source: Montreal Holocaust Museum, 2016
