Family of man killed by ICE in Houston demands independent investigation
The son of a man fatally shot by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer during a traffic stop in Houston, Texas, is calling for an independent probe into the shooting. Lorenzo Salgado Araujo was driving to a homebuilding site when he was killed, his family said Wednesday. They said Salgado Araujo had no criminal convictions in his decades living in the United States. “He did not deserve to die. He did not deserve to be reduced to a headline of a Mexican man shot and killed by ICE,” his son Lorenzo Salgado said. The Department of Homeland Security said Salgado Araujo was shot after he ignored commands and attempted to ram an officer, who fired his weapon in self-defence.
