Quand le frelon européen reprend le territoire du frelon asiatique

An extremely rare sight today: I stumbled upon a European hornet (Vespa crabro) nest built directly on top of an old Asian hornet (Vespa velutina) nest. In France, we primarily work with these two species: 🔸 Vespa velutina: Asian hornet, which nests outdoors in trees, buildings, hedges, or open areas. 🔸 Vespa crabro: European hornet, which prefers enclosed habitats such as chimneys, attics, or cavities. Seeing a European hornet reuse an old Asian nest outdoors is an extremely rare, almost unheard-of phenomenon. In this video, I show you: 🔸 The original Asian nest and its condition 🔸 The new European nest built on top of it 🔸 The differences between the two species 🔸 Why Vespa crabro doesn't normally nest outdoors 🔸 Why this situation is exceptional from a biological point of view A fascinating video that perfectly illustrates the adaptability of insects and the competition between species. 👍 Like if you find this case as fascinating as I do 🔔 Subscribe for more surprising discoveries 💬 Tell me if you've ever observed a similar phenomenon #EuropeanHornet #VespaCrabro #AsianHornet #VespaVelutina #EtienneLGF #Unusual #HornetNest #Biology #Nature #Insects #RareDiscovery
