Camping at a 500 Year Old Castle on the Island of Kerrera

On the 08/03/2025 we embarked on our first camp of 2025! Our aim was to camp at an old ruined castle on the south-wester point on the Island of Kerrera, just off the west coast of Scotland. The castle in question was Gylen Castle, with ample camping spots and amazing views down to the Slate Island. History of the Castle: "Built in 1582 by the Clan MacDougall. Gylen was only occupied for a relatively short time. The castle was besieged then burned by the Covenanters under General Leslie in 1647 during the Wars of the Three Kingdoms. In May 2006 extensive conservation of the castle was completed with a £300,000 grant by Historic Scotland and £200,000 raised by worldwide members of Clan MacDougall."- Source(Wikipedia) Day 1, We travelled to the Island and explored the castle before finding a pitching spot. Day 2, We walked round the north west of the Island exploring and taking in the Island views and beauty. We hope you enjoyed the vide, if so Like and Subscribe for more adventures!
