yes, rainforest world music festival 2025's tickets are a lot expensive than the previous years. after over twenty years, the organisers are looking for innovative ideas for the festival, but it's inevitable that the original crowd has a romantic relationship with the nostalgia of unique non-headliners line-ups, vendors being able to experience the stage area, and the overall vibe of people of the (kuching) city retreating into the rainforest to indulge in their islander persona. my verdict? as a woman who only have fully experienced the festival as a vendor in 2022, agreed that that year was still the best for myself—lying down by the lakeside, getting a spontaneous tattoo, meeting old friends and making new ones, and just being the unhinged island girl fueled by tuak and the sun. 2025 still held itself as the first time we camped overnight at damai escape park for the festival. i think i love it—despite the tropical humidity—and i definitely look forward to next year's (if any) camping now that we have better gear! i'm on substack now: http://itsstillsirius.substack.com/ find me on instagram:   / fleursteff.her
