Disappearing Rail Fence Quilt Block Tutorial

Hi! I’m back in the sewing room today. I’m making a Disappearing Rail Fence quilt block. You will need to choose 4 fabrics with light & dark contrast. This technique makes 2 blocks at a time that measure 8” square after trimming. I use strip piecing with 2.5” strips, which makes this a wonderful project to use up jelly rolls! I show you exactly how to piece together the block. I also show you how to press the seams open. Since the blocks can be arranged and pieced together to make different patterns, this pressing technique helps to keep down the bulk where your seams meet. Make sure to match up your seams and square up your blocks, then have fun creating your quilt! In addition, I show you some blocks that I completed using 3.5” strips, to demonstrate a larger block. If you like the larger size, make the blocks with strips cut at 3.5” x 12.5”. Assemble the blocks exactly as shown, then trim your completed blocks to 12” square.
