It is characterized by myxomatous degeneration, accompanied by chronic valvular fibrosis. It is a common disease in middle-aged and older dogs, primarily affecting small and medium-sized breeds such as poodles, schnauzers, dachshunds, cocker spaniels, Maltese, and Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. Most patients are asymptomatic, and in many cases, the diagnosis is accidental, when a murmur is identified through cardiac and pulmonary auscultation. Tests such as an electrocardiogram, chest X-ray, echocardiogram, and Doppler may be requested to confirm the diagnosis. -------------- 📲 VET Professional - exclusively for veterinarians and veterinary students ✓ Practical Classes ✓ Clinical Cases ✓ Surgical Cases ✓ Certified Courses ✓ Digital Books 🔴 FREE Class every Wednesday → https://www.vetprofissional.com.br/ 🔔 VET Professional: ✓ Instagram → www.instagram.com/vetprofissional/ ✓ Facebook → www.facebook.com/appvetprofissional ✓ LinkedIn →   / vet-profissional   ✓ Twitter → www.twitter.com/VetProfissional #veterinarymedicine #veterinary #veterinarycardiology #endocardiosis #myxomatousdegeneration
