NTSA introduces annual inspection for private vehicles over four years old
Starting July 1, 2026, owners of private vehicles more than four years old will be required to subject their cars to annual inspections under new regulations introduced by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA). While the authority says the move is intended to improve road safety by ensuring vehicles meet minimum safety standards, motorists have raised concerns over the additional cost at a time of rising fuel prices and a high cost of living. Failure to comply could attract a fine of up to Ksh20,000, a six-month jail term, or both.
