ATTENTION: To pass the driving test, the candidate must have a score of no more than TEN POINTS. CONTRAN RESOLUTION No. 1,020, OF DECEMBER 1, 2025 Article 45. I - Very Serious Offenses (Six points) a) disobeying traffic lights and mandatory stop signs; b) driving over the curb; c) failing to position the vehicle within the marked area, in a maximum of three attempts, within the established time; d) advancing over the marked area when parking the vehicle in the space; e) driving against the flow of traffic; f) failing to complete all stages of the exam; g) failing to yield to a right-of-way; h) causing an accident during the exam; i) exceeding the speed limit for the road; and j) committing any other very serious traffic violation. II - Serious Offenses (Four points) a) disobeying road signs or the traffic authority officer; b) failing to observe overtaking or lane change rules; c) failing to yield to a pedestrian crossing the transverse road towards which the vehicle is heading, or when the pedestrian has not yet completed crossing, even if there is a green light for the vehicle; d) keeping the vehicle door open or partially open during the test or part of it; e) failing to signal the intended maneuver in advance or signaling it incorrectly; f) not properly using the seatbelt; g) losing control of the vehicle's direction while in motion; and h) committing any other serious traffic violation. III - Medium Offenses (Two points) a) executing the test course, in whole or in part, without the handbrake being fully released; b) driving at an inappropriate speed for the adverse conditions of the location, traffic, vehicle, and weather; c) stopping the engine without just cause after the start of the test; d) making an incorrect turn; e) using the horn unnecessarily or in a prohibited location; f) disengaging the vehicle's gears on slopes; g) putting the vehicle in motion without observing the necessary precautions; h) using the clutch pedal before using the brake pedal when braking; i) entering curves with the vehicle's transmission in neutral; j) Engaging or using gears incorrectly during the journey; and k) Committing any other traffic violation of a medium nature. IV - Minor Offenses (One point) a) Causing irregular movements in the vehicle without justified reason; b) Incorrectly adjusting the driver's seat; c) Not properly adjusting the rearview mirrors; d) Resting the foot on the clutch pedal with the vehicle in gear and in motion; e) Using or interpreting the vehicle's dashboard instruments incorrectly; f) Starting the vehicle with the drive gear engaged; g) Attempting to move the vehicle with the drive gear in neutral; and h) Committing any other minor offense.
