From Geissler Tubes to Cathode Ray Tubes (Crookes Tubes), Physics & History

Follow the history and physics of how we went from beautiful Geissler tubes to the unbelievably important cathode ray tube also known as the Crookes tube (CRT led to the oscilloscope, television, the x-ray machine & the discovery of the electron). By the way, Crookes was truly prophetic. His quote about the "corpuscular theory of light" is published in the article "On the illumination of lines of molecular pressure" in the Royal Academy of London vol. 28 and his quote about "absolute zero temperature" is from an article titled "On a fourth state of matter" in the Royal Academy of London vol. 30. I use many videos in my video, here are the links: Ruhmkorff induction coil demonstration:    • Ruhmkorff vintage induction coil demonstra...   Paddle Wheel Tube:    • paddle wheel tube   Ruhmkorff induction coil, materials insulation test    • Video   I also got many of the amazing pictures of tubes from a fabulous website called "The Cathode Ray Tube site" which is just amazingsauce. https://www.crtsite.com/index.html The photo of the different gasses was from Wikipedia: By Alchemist-hp www.pse-mendelejew.de [FAL or CC BY-SA 2.0 de (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/...)], from Wikimedia Commons Finally, the background music is by my fabulous friend Kim Nalley and the theme song is her cover of the song "Electricity, Electricity" by schoolhouse rock: https://www.youtube.com/results?searc...
