The Downfall of World Cup Football Games.

What happened to the FIFA World Cup games? EA Sports once released dedicated World Cup titles — FIFA World Cup 2006 and FIFA World Cup 2010 are still remembered as classics. Then EA simply stopped. No proper World Cup video game has existed since. In this video, we explore the real reason EA abandoned the World Cup game, what went wrong with licensing, and how the football gaming modding community stepped in to fill the void. When you were younger, you probably loved playing the World Cup games that would come out every four years. I know that I did. I played the 1998 World Cup game with my brother. 2006 was the first game I really understood how to play, 2010 was a masterpiece of World Cup hype, and then the downfall really began. 2014 was only released on the PS3 and Xbox 360, despite the PS4 already being a year old. 2018 was added as a new game mode in FIFA 19, and while EA did try to make the Qatar World Cup mode interesting with all of the extra music and presentation, it was also half-hearted. Despite everything, though, 2022's World Cup mode will probably be the best World Cup game for at least the next four years.
