Using double needles allows you to sew creatively and functionally, with many practical and original options. The double needle is also known as... Its name is very common in English: #double #needle or #twin #needle; as well as in other languages: #ago #doppio or #gemello (Italian), #aiguille #double (French), or #agulha #dupla (Portuguese). There is also a needle called a triple needle, and in general, we can refer to multiple needles. ➡️ Double and triple needles consist of two or three needles, which are connected to a single stem or strand by a crossbar. This shank (also called a shank, stem, hub, or bead) is identical to that of a conventional household sewing machine, generally semi-cylindrical or half-moon in shape, as it is flat on one side. They fit most conventional home sewing machines, threading them from front to back. The flat side of the shank always points toward the back of the machine, with the curved part facing you. ⚠️ The use of a twin needle is also determined by the type and geometry of your machine's presser foot and needle plate (needleplate). This is a very important aspect and is explained in detail in the video. Twin needles are much more widely used than triple needles. They are sold in different sizes, with the main characteristics being the Metric Number (NM) or needle gauge, needle spacing, and point type. Needle characteristics are directly related to the machine system, the type of fabric, and the intended application. In this sense, what we already know for single needles is generally applicable to twin or triple needles. ♥️ The most common uses for twin needles are in #fake #coverstitch or #fake #collar #stitch, #hems, #tucks, #bias stitching, #setting or #replacing #elastic, #backstitching, #tucking, and many #decorative #stitches.
