187 Newcomers Enroll in Shizuoka Prefectural Police Academy: Donning Their Coveted Uniforms and Expressing Their Determination As spring begins, fresh talent is taking new steps throughout Shizuoka Prefecture. On April 10th, an entrance ceremony was held at the Prefectural Police Academy. 187 people, newly appointed as police officers and administrative staff this spring, participated in the ceremony. At the ceremony, a representative of the new recruits received their letters of appointment from Prefectural Police Chief Makoto Hisada. Following this, Constable Aya Yuasa, originally from Kanagawa Prefecture, took an oath on behalf of the new recruits, outlining their commitment to their roles as police officers. Chief Hisada instructed them, "Please work hard, never forgetting your initial resolve, to protect the safety and property of the citizens of Shizuoka Prefecture." New Police Officer, Ryuki Jinbo "This has been my dream job ever since I was a child, so I'm overwhelmed with emotion to be wearing this uniform." New Police Officer, Aya Asada "I want to strive to become a person who can be trusted by the people of the community and who can represent that trust." New police officers live in dormitories at the police academy and receive basic training for 6 to 10 months before being assigned to police stations and other locations.
