As the afternoon sun began to fade over the mountain peaks, and our work in the fields was finished, Nhi and I hurried to the stream near our house. Our goal for the day was to catch some fresh fish for our late dinner. The gentle murmur of the stream and the cool afternoon air of the highlands made the work feel much easier. I waded into the stream to cast my net, while Nhi helped me keep an eye on the rocky crevices. After a while of wading, we were lucky enough to catch several plump, white stream fish. The fish were still fresh, so Nhi and I brought them back to our hut and immediately lit a fire to grill them. Nothing is better than sitting by the glowing wood fire after a day's work, enjoying the fragrant grilled fish that we caught ourselves. Watching Nhi carefully prepare each piece of fish, I realized how precious these simple joys are.
